I was reading through Psalm 37 this morning and was struck by the weight of the instructions packed into a single chapter. I re-read it like this:
Fret not. Be not envious. Trust in the Lord. Do good. Dwell in the land. Befriend faithfulness. Delight in the Lord. Be still before the Lord. Wait patiently for Him. Fret not. Refrain from anger. Forsake wrath. Fret not. Turn from evil. Do good. Wait for the Lord. Keep his way. Mark (take notice of) the blameless. Behold the upright.
This is my alarm clock. It never needs winding or batteries or a D/C plug, though it does require feeding twice daily. It's incredibly accurate, waking me at 5 AM daily with less than a minute variation. Okay, so that's not as accurate as, say, the Naval Observatory's atomic clock, but mine is much cheaper. Now if I can just figure out how to set it...
There are several photo albums posted in our picture galleries. Ben was cute in this picture - pretending to take a picture of me with the flash. You can see him looking at me while the flash is triggered by remote as I was looking at him. Cute.
A bonus album of pictures from the 20th when we went from Callahan to Fernandina en route back home to Bartow. The children LOVED it. Ben pitched a royal fit when we went back up to the house. The weather was cool and the wind a bit chilling since they were wet, but comfortable otherwise. Ta-ta had rented a house on the beach so the kids bathed before the four hour road trip south. Love to Ta-ta!
A short video or two here.
This morning's festivities included capturing the moment with two digital cameras and a digital video camera. (Question: do we really need to say "digital" anymore?) I've posted some of the still pics in the online gallery. I'll see what I can do with a video or two...
From the Jamie Self household to yours we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

And here's some pictures taken at church Monday. It looks like I'll need to swap out one of the lenses and maybe need to add a special wide-angle (though not a fisheye) lens to get the most out of interior shots.
So after lots of searching for the right camera I came up with the Nikon D90. My hope is that it'll enable some great pictures for use in information materials, website pages, facility directories at the church, maybe even logo creation. And with a bit of good planning there may be a real possibility of a continuously updated (online) church directory. The camera is superb in low-light and has enormous potential for portraiture (hello, new members!) and for architectural photography.
I love me some Florida orange juice, but this manufacturer is a half mile from the house and the noise from production is a nuisance. When they let steam from the pipes (or so I'm told) it screams like a person right outside my window.
This was the little article I wrote for the church's December newsletter.
